The Mourners at the Metropolitan Museum

At The Met right now a stunning exhibition The Mourners: Medieval Tomb Scupltures from the Court of Burgundy. They are on loan during renovations to the tomb of John the Fearless and his wife Margaret of Bavaria in Dijon. Each figure (16in in height and alabaster white) represents a mourner; mostly monks, a bishop and choir boys from the Carthusian order. A beautiful sight in the medieval gallery half light at the Met.

On until 23rd of May.
